National Grid joins NextEra and LADWP in announcing their move into hydrogen and, ultimately, hydrogen fuel cells. Fuel cells and hydrogen have many advantages and opportunities described well for lay people in Chapter 5 of Richard Gasaway’s “An Inconvenient Purpose” found at https://lnkd.in/gtv9caE.

This may be the “next big thing” providing generation and/or storage for electric and gas utilities and allowing a favorable transition from fossil to renewables (including gas) as the technologies mature. See https://lnkd.in/gKXC9XY

It’s exciting to see major US utilities taking the lead on the hydrogen economy. How will this impact the electric grid? As we transition to hydrogen, the electric grid will continue to provide outstanding reliability and resiliency of service, will connect us to low cost (hydrogen?) sources of generation, and connect you and me for transactive energy (see https://lnkd.in/g9Fmjah). And, you can be “bullish” on the gas pipeline grid.
